Photowalker: Keith Murray
I am a relative newbie to photography. I have always had an interest, took a module in 4th year in school. We used pentax cameras, black and white film and developed and printed our own shots and our teacher Mr. Camier was passionate about the subject, this drew me in totally, but I never got around to buying my own SLR. Out of the blue my wife’s brother gifted me his ‘old’ 400D because he had just bought a 5D MkII. I was immediately hooked and inhaled everything I could get my hands on with regard to photography, bought more gear than needed and am fighting an ongoing battle with lens lust.
The technical aspect of learning how a shot is composed and how to set the camera up really appealed to my inner geek. Learning that I look at everything differently now that I usually have my camera in tow really makes me smile.
I have opened up pix.ie and flickr accounts, started my own photoblog, and met lots and lots of great people in doing so, many in real life via flickr’s ‘Dublin Strobist‘ group meetups, learning a whole heap along the way. However photowalk.ie Trim walk will be my first photowalk. I watched the Scott Kelby one fill up and hovered my finger over the button, but figured that they’d all be far more serious about photography than me, and kicked myself afterwards. I couldn’t attend a few others since, but I am definitely starting with the Trim walk and look forward to meeting more idiots like me who love taking photos, walking around Trim (which is a few minutes from my house, but I’ve barely taken a camera there) and maybe having a few pints afterwards. All I have to figure out now is how much or little gear I lug around with me.
Keith has a photoblog, ihastakephoto.com and tweets as @yarrumk.
