Photowalker: John Williams

So here’s a brief enough history of photography and I.

I have always enjoyed taking photos, as a child I enjoyed playing with my parents camera and as I grew up I ended up buying my own. Suppose my first real camera was a little Canon Ixus v2, I love this 2.1 megapixel beast. And yes when I bought it, it was considered a serious point and shooter.

I progressed from that to what was known as a prosumer camera, a Canon PowerShot G6 and started to mess around with settings and trying out different things, It was also when, 5 years ago, I decided to begin my photoblog. It was only a year after that I sold that and moved to the world of SLR and bought a Canon 350D and yes I upgraded again recently to a Canon 40D. This is how much photography has entered my life.

So photowalking!

Well I have been on many many photowalks over the last 3 or 4 years, and have organised some aswell. The one thing I say to anyone interested is, that this is not a competition of who takes the best pictures etc, but more so a way to learn from other photographers, get ideas from other photographers and mainly have a laugh and a bit of fun with other photographers. You may also see a different part of the country you never knew existed.

For the Scott Kelby photowalk I lead last year, where 43 people turned up, the one thing I said to people coming was, even if you have a camera phone you can go on a photowalk and some images I have seen coming from said devices can put my shots and others to shame.

You dont need a degree in photography, you don’t even need to know about Aperture and ISO etc, come on I have been winging it for years so trust me I know, just go and enjoy these days out.
