Photowalk; Dublin Zoo, July 11th

Someone recently told me it’s all happening at the zoo and I’m inclined to believe it’s true. Possibly the most self-indulgent photowalk yet, July is the turn of Dublin Zoo. Possibly if only because I’ve lived in Dublin for ohh 18 months now and even though the zoo is quite close, it’s somewhere I’ve never been. It’s also probably a nice change from all the landscape, flower macro, landscape, more landscape and even more landscape stuff we’ve had on the photowalks so far this year.

Nothing too complicated here, meet at 10am on Sunday the 11th July. Like Airfield Farm a few months ago, this one is of course entirely family friendly. Bring the kids, bring the significant other that always allows you to buy such fancy camera gear. Bring your granny and your neighbours parrot if you want.

Dublin Zoo is €15 for an adult, the rest of the rates are available on their website. Perhaps Lions and Tigers and Bears (oh my) aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I hope to see you there. If all the caged up wild animals don’t do it for you, I’m sure we can organise some hi-jinks or other shenanigans* in the park afterward.

Lots more info on Dublin Zoo, how to get there, maps and whatnot are readily available on their website over at www.dublinzoo.ie

(*hi-jinks and shenanigans will not be provided. Photowalkers are required to supply their own merriment)

A note on the date change: Put up the wrong date initially. This event is taking place next weekend, Sunday 11th July. Apologies if this messes up anyones plans to come.

Update 8th Jul: I’ve been thinking about what Christina said in the comments below and am  moving the meeting time to 10am outside the ticket office. That doesn’t mean you’ve to arrive at 10am though. If you’re sticking to the 11am time, give me a shout on the photowalk mobile number (086 1551616) when you arrive to say you’re around and so we can all meet up.

Aww,this is one I really would have liked to gone to, but a wedding in Galway on the Saturday night, (say 4am-ish to bed) means the chances of being in Phoenix Park for 11am are very, very slim indeed.

A pity, enjoy it the rest of ye :)

  8. Will there not be long queues at 11? The zoo opens at 9.30 on Sundays.

I only said 11am really because I didn’t want anyone to complain that I’d picked a time that was too early :)

Feel free to go as early as you wish. I’m sure there will be a few early starters if the nice weather holds.

If the weather is any way half decent like it’s been, the queues will be huge on a Sunday. I’ll be there anyway.

Don’t think I can make this one… Will be getting ready to cheer on Meath!! But just to say to whoever is going, be up there as early as possible as the animals, like the tigers etc are more active first thing.. then they hide and snooze for the rest of the day. Enjoy folks :-D

Thinking about what Christina said above regarding meeting time, I’ve decided to push the time back to 10am outside the ticket office.

As in the update above, don’t feel you *need* to turn up at 10, it’s just an option now. If you don’t plan on being around until 11 or after, give a quick call to the photowalk mobile number (086 1551616) when you arrive so we can all meet up once inside.

Well the weather held up yesterday and it turned out to be a great day. Trust all the young up and coming photowalkers had a good day :-) .
Looking forward to seeing the shots – I’ll get stuck into mine tonight and get them up on Pix.ie & Flickr.
