We’ve put together some information for people thinking of attending or organising a photowalk, we’ve got links to photobloggers that can regularly be found treading the pavements in a pack, and we’ll be posting details of actual photowalks coming up in the next few months.

Patrick Dinneen, from Cork but living in Galway, West Ireland. I used to own a standard compact but got a nice bridge Panasonic FZ-28 recently and have been snapping away a lot more since then. I’m getting a shiny new Canon S90 from Santy this year.
Most pictures in this photoblog/ photo blog are taken around Galway.

Would be awesome to have a proper (Google) calendar running on the site. With full details embedded into each calendar entry. We’d be able to check events on a proper calendar view, subscribe to it and even have it magically synced with our own desktop varieties of calendars.
Great idea to set this up, will deffo keep an eye (or even both) on it

Agreed Davy, we’ll hack on this over the next while. We felt it was better to get something out there since there’s a real commitment to getting a photowalk a month cranked out. Keep the feedback coming though!

Thanks Patrick, the CSS code for displaying the comments is separate from the functionality of the comment itself (that is, the link code). I could modify it to pop-out a new window as you’ve suggested, but would probably need to do this each time WP updates. I’ll add it to the list-of-thing-to-fix and, time permitting, I’ll see if I can find a more sustainable solution. Thanks for the feedback to date!

Dare I say, maps? Perhaps, of the intended route and anything of interest along the way (or, more importantly, the intended pub at the end!). I think it *should* be easy to embed a Google map with WordPress.
I might also suggest a weather widget for the walk’s location but given our climate it might just put people off!

Route planning is definitely on the cards, or at least a location map with the key locations we’ll be targeting as part of the Walk. This would also have the benefit of allowing people to break off into groups if they so wished!
Weather applet can probably be done pretty quickly – will take a look see at what’s available!

Having missed the Trim photowalk, it would be interesting to see some of the images that people took, in a central location i.e. photo sharing site like Pix.ie or as part of this site? Not necessarily all the images just a selection from the attendees who wanted to post them. You could end up with an informal “Shot of the day”.
For new users it could be useful for a review of the event and some pic’s. Do you plan to include images? for a site related to photography there are virtually no images to show our off the variety of locations here in Ireland.
Looking forward to catching up with you all in Galway.
